WATERBURY -John Patrick "Jack" Mulhall age 88, of Waterbury, passed away on Thursday, January 13,2022 at the Vitas Innovative Care Unit of St. Mary's Hospital, surrounded by the love and comfort of his family after a brief illness. He was the devoted husband of Ann (Lahey) Mulhall.
Mr. Mulhall was born March 15th 1933 in Waterbury CT, the son of the late Peter and Marie (Kelley) Mulhall. He attended local schools and proudly served with the U.S. Marine Corp during the Korean War. After his return from the service, Jack settled In Waterbury where he joined the Waterbury Fire Department and spent years first with Engine 5 in the East End and then retiring in 1988 from the North End firehouse. Jack was extremely proud of his Irish heritage and was honored with being chosen as the AOH St. Patrick's Day Parade Marshall, an honor he was especially proud of. He was an avid Boston Red Sox and NY Giants fan. He was a life member of the Waterbury VFW Post #201 the Wolcott, American Legion, the Ancient Order of Hibernians, Monsignor Slocum Division #1 and the Waterbury IBPO Elks Lodge # 265. Jack enjoyed spending summers at the family cottage in Milford and winters in Myrtle Beach where he made many friends. He loved to entertain and was a uniquely generous soul to friends, family, and many charities that he supported. He was also a repeat call-in "Celebrity Guest" on the Tom Chute Radio Show, where he was given the nickname "Happy Jack". He will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know and love him.
Left to honor his legacy and cherish his memory, besides his bride of 69 years, Ann, are his sons; David Mulhall and his wife, Roxie of Thomaston, Sean Mulhall and his wife, Leslie of Naugatuck, his daughters; Nancy Mattaboni and her husband Danny, Patti Guastaferri and her husband Lou, and Cynthia Colangelo and her husband Carl of Waterbury. John and Ann were blessed with 13 grandchildren, McKenzie, Stephanie, Michelle, Stacie, Mark, Jaclyn, Megan, Jake, Seth, Riley, Matthew, Taylor and Paige as well as 8 great grandchildren Isabella, Matteo, Harper, Lucas, Ariana, Zoey, Leilani and Julien. He also leaves his sister in laws, Lorraine Mulhall and Barbara Lahey both of Naugatuck and many nieces and nephews. A special thanks to Christopher Mulhall and his family. He was predeceased by his brother, Peter Mulhall and his sister, Margaret Mary Halton.
Funeral services for Mr. Mulhall will be held on Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Mary Mother of the Church Parish, Saints Peter and Paul Church, 67 Southmayd Rd Waterbury to celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial. All those planning to attend are kindly asked to meet directly at the church. Burial with full military honors, will follow in Calvary Cemetery Waterbury. Relatives and friends may visit with Jack's family on Tuesday evening from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 1987 East Main St @ Southmayd Rd, Waterbury, CT 06705. We continue to remain very concerned about the ongoing pandemic, so masks will be required during all indoor services, regardless of your current vaccination status.
