Devoted to his family
THOMASTON – John Janus, age 73, of Thomaston, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 15, 2024 at Saint Mary’s Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Mary (Zaccagnini) Janus of 50 years.
John was born on January 20, 1951 in Waterbury, the son of the late Frank and Marion (Stahura) Janus. He was a graduate of Naugatuck High School and Kaynor Technical School, then went on to be a Journeyman in the manufacturing industry as a tool, die and mold maker. John retired from Lyons Tool and Die Co. in Meriden after many years of service. He loved playing golf, woodworking, along with making wine and IPA beer. John was exceptional in almost every way but he excelled the most at being a devoted husband, father and grandfather whose favorite thing in life was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Honoring John’s request was to make time to spend with your family, never hold a grudge, and always focus on the good in others. He will be deeply missed by all those who were blessed to love and know him.
Left to honor his legacy and cherish his memory, besides his wife Mary, are his two sons; John Sebastian Janus and his wife Barbara, and Eric John Janus, two grandchildren; John Edward Janus II and Alice Jean Janus. He was predeceased by his two brothers; Gerald and Francis Janus.
