THE CASEY FAMILY IS HONORED TO BE CARING FOR AND ASSISTING THE FAMILY OF JOHN R. LEBLANC
ATERBURY - It is with deep regret that we announce the peaceful passing of John R. LeBlanc at the
age of 70 in the very early hours of Sunday, June 30, 2019 at home under the loving care of his wife,
Barbara of 38 years and the Vitas Hospice Home Care.
John was diagnosed in February of 2019 with an aggressive cancer. He remained strong and had a
positive attitude to the end, often showing his sense of humor and spirit. He enjoyed the calls and visits
from his cousins and VFW Post 201 friends and especially his children and grandchildren. John's
memory will live on through those he left so soon. He was a good man and devoted husband, father,
grandfather and friend. He will be greatly missed but never forgotten.
Born on November 3, 1948 in Waterbury, John was the only child of the late Raymond E and Helen
(Knott) LeBlanc. He enlisted at age 17 in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War and honorably and
proudly served two tours in Vietnam aboard the USS Kearsarge (1966-1969). Upon his return home, he
became and electrician and worked for several contractors throughout the State of CT. In his younger
years, he enjoyed many sports including duckpin bowling in the leagues at Perillos for many years. John
was a talented pitcher and played AA baseball and softball in the Valley Men's Leagues and later in the
COED league with his wife. John also found time to umpire softball games and coach school swimming
teams. He enjoyed golfing at the East Mountain course and worked there as a starter/ranger for many
years. He was an avid fan of the NY Yankees, Giants fan, a fan of NASCAR as well as an active
lifetime member of V.F.W. Post 201.
In addition to his wife Barbara, John is survived by his daughters Rena Barrow and Rebecca (David)
Lazauskas and his seven devoted grandchildren; Tierra (Jeff) Milam, Chantel Lucas, Alexandria
Barrow, David Redding, Dena Werling, Joseph Barrow Jr and Zachary Lugauskas. John was predeceased by his children, John LeBlanc Jr and Rhonda Redding Werling.
