THE CASEY FAMILY IS HONORED TO BE CARING FOR AND ASSISTING THE FAMILY OF JOHN MCDONALD

WATERBURY - John J. McDonald of Waterbury, passed away peacefully with his family by his side, at home on the evening of July 7, 2019. He was the devoted husband of Janet (McCarthy) McDonald.

John was born on June 30, 1936 in Waterbury the son of the late John P. and Mary (Loye) McDonald. He graduated from St. Mary's Grammar School and Sacred Heart High School and worked for many years for the City of Waterbury in the School Maintenance Dept. For John his family and faith were his priorities in life and qualities he instilled in all of his children. He was extremely proud of his Irish heritage, his dual citizenship (Ireland and U.S.) and was an avid UCONN and NY Yankee fan. He was always happiest when surrounded by his family and grandchildren. He was also a huge history buff and he loved animals of every kind. He was a longtime parishioner of St Francis Xavier Church and he will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know and love him.

In addition to his wife of 56 years, John leaves his children; daughters, Sandy McDonald and Kristy McDonald both of Waterbury and Mary Nieves and her husband, Arthur of Prospect, his sons; John and Jimmy McDonald both of Waterbury and his five grandchildren; Brendan McDonald, Karisa and Sgt. Eric Zamy, United States Army, Donovan and Ryan Nieves. John's family would like to acknowledge and thank his longtime aide, Shara, Rev Paul Pace, Jean Murphy and the staff at Season Hospice for the love and comfort they shared with John throughout his illness.
