AT THE CASEY-O'DONNELL FAMILY FUNERAL HOME
WATERBURY CT. Mr. John McGuire, age 83, of Greenmount Terrace, Waterbury, died Friday, April 8, 2011 at Saint Mary's Hospital after an extended illness. He was the husband of Irene (Pavone) McGuire.
Mr. McGuire was born in Waterbury on June 23, 1927, the son of the late Thomas and Eva (Moore) McGuire. He attended local schools and served as a reservist with the US Army during WWII. Mr. McGuire worked as a toolmaker at Scovill Manufacturing for over 40 years before his retirement. In his younger years, he was an outstanding baseball player and golfer. He was an avid New York Yankee's and UCONN fan and enjoyed fishing and gardening. Most importantly he enjoyed spending time with his family and watching sporting events with them.
Besides his wife of 63 years, Mr. McGuire is survived by his 2 sons, Jack McGuire and his wife Christine of Middlebury and Robert McGuire and Nancy Bombaci of Waterbury, his 2 daughters, Kathleen Michitsch and her husband Barry of Waterbury and Marie McGuire and Noeleen O'Connor of Waterbury. He also leaves a sister, Rosemary (McGuire) Rossi and her husband Nicholas of New Smyrna FL. a brother in-law Raymond Boisvert of Waterbury and a sister in-law, Rita McGuire of Waterbury. Mr. McGuire will miss his adoring grandchildren, Jacquelyn Lattanzio, Christopher McGuire, Barry and Shanna Michitsch, Jessica and Julie McGuire and their mother Judy, his great grandchildren, Cailin, Kyle, and Carly McGuire and Anthony Lattanzio. Mr. McGuire was predeceased by his twin sister, Ellen Sullivan, her husband John, his sisters Kathleen McGuire, Margaret Boisvert, and his brothers Thomas, Donald, and Robert McGuire.
The McGuire family would like to express their personal appreciation and gratitude to all the staff at Beacon Book Healthcare Center and Saint Mary's Hospital as well as Doctor Donald Rosenthal and his staff for special care and attention they have provided to the family over the past several months.
Funeral Services for Mr. McGuire will be held on Monday April 11, 2011 at 9:00a.m. from the Casey-O'Donnell Family Funeral Home 1581 East Main St, Waterbury to St Patrick's Church, Charles St Waterbury for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am. Burial will follow in New Pine Grove Cemetery. Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Sunday afternoon from 3:00-5:00pm. and Monday morning from 8:00 till 9:00am at the funeral home. In Lieu of flowers memorial donations in Mr. McGuire's memory may be made to Beacon Brook Healthcare Center, 89 Weid Dr. Naugatuck, CT 06770.
