VIETNAM NAVY SEA-BEE VETERAN

NEW BRITAIN - John S. McLean Jr age 68 of New Britain formerly of Oakville passed away peacefully surrounded by the love and comfort of his family at Hartford Hospital on November 25th 2019.

John was born April 23rd 1951 in Waterbury, Ct the son of the late John and Julia (Germano) McLean Sr. He was raised in Oakville where he attended local school and proudly served with the US Navy Sea-Bee's Mobil Construction Battalion #74 during the Vietnam war. John spent many years working as a facilities engineer at the Newington VA Hospital and more recently at Saint Francis Hospital until his retirement in 2015. He enjoyed baseball and bowling and was a long time member of the Oakville VFW Post 7330 John always looked forward to participating in many Memorial Day and Veterans Day parades through the state.

Left to remember, cherish and honor John's love and legacy are his children, Christopher McLean and his wife, Barbara of Wolcott, Ryan McLean of West Hartford, and his daughter, Heather McLean of Bristol,. In addition he also leaves his brother David McLean of Waterbury, his two grandchildren, Jack and Julia McLean, as well as one niece and many cousins.

Funeral services for Mr. McLean will be held on Saturday, November 30, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home 1987 East Main St @ Southmayd Rd Waterbury. Burial will follow in Calvary cemetery, Waterbury with full military honors.
