THE CASEY FAMILY IS HONORED TO BE ASSISTING AND CARING FOR THE FAMILY OF JOHN QUIRKE
NEWINGTON CT - John (Johnny) Joseph Quirke, age 75 of Newington, formerly of Waterbury, CT, passed away peacefully on August 10, 2018 after a courageous struggle with cancer.
John was born on August 4th, 1943 in Waterbury, CT, the son of the late James Anthony and Sarah Veronica (Mullarkey) Quirke. John was a man of courage his entire life. John's ability to handle all of the challenges of cerebral palsy and live his life to the fullest made him a hero to his family and friends.
John touched so many lives over the course of his life and it always was a joy to be in his company. John will especially be remembered for his love of all things Irish and UCONN women's basketball. John also was an avid and enthusiastic music lover, especially those 'golden oldies". John would dance every dance at every party or wedding he ever attended.
John was pre-deceased by his sister Sarah Veronica (Quirke) Tonrey and his brother James Patrick Quirke his sister in-law Micki Quirke and brother in-law Jack Tonrey. John's survivors include Quirke and Tonrey family nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews.
Calling hours for John Quirke will be held on Saturday August 18th, 2018 from 9:00am-10:30am at Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home, located at 1987 East Main Street in Waterbury.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11am at Saints Peter and Paul Church, located at 149 Southmayd Rd Waterbury. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, located in Waterbury.
