THE CASEY FAMILY IS HONORED TO BE CARING FOR AND ASSISTING THE FAMILY OF JOHN J. SARGENT

Member of the Masonic Lodge # 40
WATERBURY - John James "JJ" Winthrop Sargent, age 52, entered into peaceful rest on Monday, August 13, 2018, at his home in Waterbury, CT. after a brief illness.

John was born in Haverhill, MA on March 2, 1966, the eldest son of James Sargent of Middletown, CT and the late Kathleen Sargent of Waterbury, CT. John was a graduate of Naugatuck Community College and Western CT State University where he earned his Master's Degree and was a very active member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity and remained an active alumnus throughout his life. As an avid writer himself, he taught this craft at local colleges throughout the state and also spent many years as an employee at TC's Pawn Company as well. He loved books, music and B rated movies. He was a friend with a kind heart to all he met. In recent years he was most proud to be a Member of the Masonic Lodge #40 in Danbury, CT, and Harmony Lodge #42 in Waterbury, CT. He was a huge fan of the Boston Red Sox and enjoyed attending many games with his father.

Besides his father, James Sargent, he leaves his younger sister, Serena Vega and three younger brothers, Jay Sargent, Richard McAvay and David McAvay, beloved nieces, Christina, JaCinda, Cassandra and nephews, Justin, TJ, Nick, and all their children.

Funeral services for Mr. Sargent will be held on Sunday August 26th 2018 at 5:00pm at Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home, 1987 East Main St @ Southmayd Rd Waterbury. Burial will be held privately and at the convenience of the family. Relatives and friends may visit with John's family on Sunday afternoon from 3:00pm until the time of the service at 5:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, to honor John's memory, donations may be made to CDC of CT and sent to the Children's Dyslexia Center of CT, 529 Highland Ave. Waterbury, CT 06708 - Attn: Cheryl Sharkis.
