SOUTHBURY- Mr. John A. Shinglar age71 of Southbury, passed away on Friday, April 28, 2017 at Waterbury Hospital after an extended illness. He was the husband of Eleanor (Skibinski) Shinglar.
John was born December 9, 1945 in Bridgeport CT, the son of the late Andrew and Ida (Millo) Shinglar. He was a Tool & Die Supervisor at Avco Lycoming in Stratford and most recently at American Standard in Southington. John loved to bowl, received many distinctive awards and trophies and did so for over 50 years. He was a sports fan, played softball for Avco Lycoming, and was a fan of the NY Yankees and Giants. He enjoyed fishing and his adventurous trips to the beach especially, Wildwood NJ. He also enjoyed bingo and trips to Foxwoods. He was a devoted fan of his grandson's team the "Bunker Hill Bulldogs" and could be found routing them on at every game, He will be sadly missed by his loving family and all who knew and loved him.
Besides his devoted wife of nearly 50 years, he leaves his children, daughters; Kimberly Giannone and her husband, Blaise of East Haven, Dawn Vilardi and her husband, Robert of Boca Raton FL and Sandy Shinglar of Waterbury, his son, Andrew Shinglar of Naugatuck and his grandson, Joseph John Shinglar of Waterbury.
Funeral services for Mr. Shinglar will be held on Tuesday May 2, 2017 at 4:30 pm at Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home 1987 East Main St @ Southmayd Rd. Waterbury. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with John's family on Tuesday from 3:00 till 5:00 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
