AT THE O'NEILL FUNERAL HOME, OAKVILLE- John Sowinski, age 49, of Jordan Ave Oakville died unexpectedly on Sunday at his home. He was the husband of Sherry (Pelkey) Sowinski.
John was born in Waterbury on June 1, 1959, the son of the late John M. and Irena (Wryzykowska) Sowinski. A lifelong resident of Oakville, John was a graduate of Watertown High School and was formerly employed as a Machinist for Bartley Mfg. in Waterbury. He was a veteran of the US Army and proudly served his country assigned to the Pershing Missle Unit in Germany from 1979-1981. He was a member of the Society for Manufacturing Engineers and was an avid arborist.
Beside his wife of 19 years, John is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth Sowinski of Oakville, two brothers, Anthony Sowinski of Harwinton and Marian Sowinski of South Carolina and a sister, Anna Sowinski. He also leaves his in-laws, Edward and Margaret Pelkey of Prospect and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services and burial are private and will be held at the convenience of the family. Family and friends may visit at the O'Neill Funeral Home, 742 Main St. Oakville CT on Wednesday evening January 21, 2009 from 5-8pm.
