THE CASEY FAMILY IS HONORED TO BE CARING FOR AND ASSISTING THE FAMILY OF JOHN M SULLIVAN

US Army Ranger, 82nd Airborne

WATERBURY - John M. (Mal) Sullivan age 89 of Waterbury passed away on Sunday January 23, 2022 at Waterbury Hospital due to complications from COVID #19.

John was born on June 10, 1932 in Waterbury the son of the late John T. and Alice (Costello) Sullivan. He was educated in local schools and was a member of the greatest generation having served with both the US Air Force and the Army Air Corp as an Army Ranger and Medic assigned to the 82nd Airborne during the Korean War. During that time he was awarded the Purple Heart, Korean service medal, United Nations service medal, and unit commendation ribbon. Upon his return to the states, he was employed for many years as a toolmaker and manager at Harvey Hubbell Plastics. John was proud of his Irish heritage and enjoyed singing every chance he got and listening to his favorite crooner, Frank Sinatra. He was an avid Red Sox fan and so happy he lived to see them win the World Series. He loved all sports and loved to discuss them with his nephews. He was a true gentleman, humble and proud. He was a devoted father, brother and uncle to his son, siblings and three nephews. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed camping and being in the great outdoors. He will be sadly missed by all who were blessed to know and love him.

Left cherish his memory are his son, John N. Sullivan of Morris CT, his sister, Sharon Sullivan Anderson (Doug) of Wolcott, his brother, Donald Sullivan (Pat) of FL and his four nephews; Scott, Steven and Wade Anderson, Kevin Sullivan, his niece Kerry Dietrick and his great nephew, John Anderson, as well as many close cousins and friends He was predeceased by his brother Gerald Sullivan

Funeral services for Mr. Sullivan will be private. He will be interred in his family plot in Calvary Cemetery, in the Spring.. A memorial service will be held at a later date to be announced.
