Mr. John L.Trent Jr.

NAUGATUCK – It is with profound sadness that the family of John L. Trent Jr., age 79, of Naugatuck share the news of his peaceful passing on March 11, 2025 at Beacon Brook Center for Health & Rehabilitation surrounded by the love and comfort of his family. He was the widower of Dorothy (Hodges) Trent.

John was born on June 13, 1945, in Cumberland, Virginia, the son of the late John Jasper and Minnie (Booker) Trent Sr. He attended local schools, went on to work at Scovill Manufacturing and Waterbury Cab Company. John enjoyed racing cars, and had a passion for cooking, particularly his famous fish fries, which were treasured by family and friends alike. An avid card player, he enjoyed spending time playing spades. However, above all, what truly mattered to John was the time he spent with his family.

Left to cherish his memory are his children; John Trent III, James Trent, Trevor Hoffler, Karen Mims, Nakia Howard, and James Stokley as well as 16 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, his sister, Roberta Trent, his two aunts; Juantia Langhorn and Pearl Trent, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends. John was predeceased by his 3 brothers and 2 sisters.

Funeral Services for Mr. Trent will be held on Saturday, March 22, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 1987 East Main Street, Waterbury, CT. Burial will follow in New Pine Grove Cemetery, Waterbury.
