John Vitone

July 28, 1960 — August 22, 2014

WATERTOWN - John F. Vitone, age 54, of Watertown died peacefully at his home August 22, 2014. He was the husband of Susan (Burns) Vitone.

John was born July 28, 1960 in Waterbury a son of the late Joseph and Kathleen "Pudgy" (Marcoux) Vitone and lived in Watertown for most of his life. John also resided in Merritt Island, Florida from 1999 to 2007. He was a graduate of Watertown High School, Becker Junior College in Worcester, MA, and the Florida Police Academy. John had worked in Law Enforcement for several years in Florida and also coached Little League while there. He was a member of the V.F.W. Men's Auxiliary Post 7330 in Oakville, The Knights of Columbus in Watertown. He enjoyed soccer, tennis and golfing. He found great joy in making everyone laugh; but nothing meant more to him than spending time with his family. He was a devoted husband, father, brother and friend. He was a member of Saint Mary Magdalen Church.

Besides his loving wife of 23 years, he leaves his son Nicholas J. Vitone and his wife Tiffany of American Fork, UT, two daughters Jessica M. and Kasey R. Vitone of Watertown, a brother Joseph M. Vitone and his wife Gail of Watertown, a sister Catherine Annulli of Thomaston, two nephews Michael and Robert, three nieces Alexa, Lea and Abby, his father-in-law and mother-in-law Jim and Carol Burns of Southbury, his sister-in-law Karen Wappler and her husband Shel of Norwalk, several cousins and a large extended group of family and friends.

Funeral Thursday August 28, 2014 at 11a.m. at Saint Mary Magdalen Church. Those planning to attend are asked to meet directly at church. Burial will be private and at the convenience of his family. Relatives and friends may visit with John's family on Wednesday evening from 5 to 8 p.m. at the O'Neill Funeral Home 742 Main Street Oakville CT 06779. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Vitone Children Memorial Fund c/o TD Bank 1247 Main St, Watertown, CT 06795.
