Beloved Husband, Father, & Grandfather
WATERBURY - Jorge Lopez-Garcia, age 81. of Waterbury, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, June 3, 2023, at Saint Mary’s Hospital after a brief illness. He was the husband of Selaida Lopez-Morales.
Jorge was born May 2, 1942, in Yauco, Puerto Rico, the son of the late Jorge and Trinidad Lopez Garcia. He moved to Florida in 1979 and later settled in Waterbury, in November of 1980. Jorge was a man of many talents. He was a car enthusiast, loved cooking, and was a talented auto repairman but most proud-of being a DJ and was known as “El Canito De La Alegría.” He enjoyed watching movies, especially martial arts movies featuring Chuck Norris and Bruce Lee, and was always musically the life of the party. He loved to entertain friends and family but was always happiest while spending time with his family. He will be sadly missed by all who were blessed to know and love him.
Left to honor his legacy and cherish his memory, beside his wife of 49 years, Selaida, he leaves his sons; Jorge Lopez III and son, Jordan of Chicago, William Lopez and Joshua and Gabriel of Chicago, Jorge Lopez IV his wife, Donna and Kian, Victoria, Levi of Columbus Ga. He also leaves his daughters;Sarahi Lopez-Rodway, her husband Brian and children,Brian and Nikolas, and Tiahra Linde of Houston, Tx, Sally Lopez Agron her husband, Steven and children Zahixa, Priscilla of Waterbury, and son Xander of Bronx, NY, Yahira Olivo, her husband, Jose and children Elvin, Jose, Flormarie, Kimberly, and Nathaniel of Waterbury. He also leaves many great grandchildren, his cousin Prieto Perez and his wife Milady, and numerous nieces and nephews as well as other extended family members and friends.
A Memorial Gathering for Mr. Lopez will be held on Wednesday, June 7, 2023, from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral and Cremation Care, 1987 East Main St., Waterbury, CT 06705. Burial will be held privately and at the convenience of his family.
