WOLCOTT - Jose F. Quintana, age 74 of Waterbury, passed away on Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at St Francis Hospital in Hartford surrounded by his loving family. He was the loving husband of Carmen (Echevarria) Quintana.

Jose was born on January 13, 1945 in Utuado, Puerto Rico the son of the late Francisco and Marqarita Martinez. He was a graduate of Croft High School and Naugatuck Valley Community College. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force. Jose worked for over 28 years for the State of CT, Department of Motor Vehicles as an Inspector and retired as a Sargent. Jose was an avid UConn fan who enjoyed attending the Senior Centers bus trip to the Womens Basketball games. . What was most important to Jose in life was his family. He never missed a grandchild's sporting event and was always happiest when surrounded by his devoted family. He was a proud veteran, a patriot in every regard and enjoyed collecting family photos and memorabilia of the family's commitment to their country. He will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know and love him.

Besides his wife of 50 years, Jose is survived by his daughters, Anita Ligi and her husband, Mark of Wolcott, Raquel Sanchez and her husband, John of Wolcott, his brothers, Pedro of Waterbury, Sergio Martinez of Southington and Rafael Martinez of NY. He also leaves his adoring grandchildren; Michael, Anthony, Thomas and Marisela and 4 step grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his brother, Otilio Irizarry and sister, Alejandra Rodriquez Alba.

Funeral Services for Mr. Quintana will be held on Monday, April 29, 2019 at 10:00 AM when a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St Michaels Church, 62 St Michaels Dr. Waterbury CT. Military honors for Mr. Quintana will be accorded, following the church service. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family. Relatives and friends may visit with Jose's family on Sunday afternoon from 2P00 till 4:00 pm. at Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home 1987 East Main St Waterbury CT.
