THE CASEY FAMILY IS HONORED TO BE ASSISTING AND CARING FOR THE FAMILY OF JOSE RODRIGUEZ
WATERBURY -Jose L. Rodriguez, age 71, passed away Peacefully on Sunday May 23rd 2021 at the Vitas Innovative Care Unit at Saint Mary's Hospital. He was the widower of Maria (Soto) Rodriguez.
Jose was born August 27th 1949 in Ponce, Puerto Rico the son of the late Tomas and Genoveva Rodriguez. He moved to NYC with his family as an infant and was raised in the Waterbury area. He was a graduate of Sacred Heart High School and received his masters degree in engineering from Central Connecticut State University. Jose spent many years working as a industrial engineer for Pratt and Whitney until his retirement in 2006. Jose was a talented musician with the ability to play multiple types of instruments and in his younger years was a member of the band The Unknowns and other local bands; he was also the former music director at St Cecilia's Church. Jose was one of the founding organizers of Talento Puertorriqueño, a Hispanic cultural arts and music program to develop talent in the Waterbury area. Jose was also a longtime baseball coach for the Waterbury PAL and was always happiest while spending time with his family and grandchildren especially while coaching them in baseball and teaching them to play musical instruments. He will sadly be missed by all who know and love him.
Left to cherish his memory and honor Jose's love and legacy are his son Luis Andres Rodriguez, of Southington, his daughters Laura Rodriguez Cardona, of Texas, and Lucinda Rodriguez of Waterbury with whom he made his home. He also leaves his siblings, Thomas Rodriguez and his wife, Margarita of Waterbury, Manuel Rodriguez and his wife, Becky of Waterbury, Carlos Rodriguez of Waterbury, Antonia Ferrucci and her husband, Dom of Waterbury, Lillian Velez and her husband, Eduardo of Port Charlotte, FL, Dolores Rodriguez of Port Charlotte, FL and Genevieve Santiago and her husband, Raul of Waterbury. He also leaves his four grandchildren, Lucas, Arriana, Olivia, and Lorenzo.
Funeral Services for Mr. Rodriguez will be held on June 2nd 2021 at St Anne's Parish All Saint Todos Los Santos Church at 11:00 am. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with Jose's family on Tuesday June 1st from 5:00 to &7:00pm at from Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home 1987 East Main St. @ Southmayd Rd., Waterbury, CT 06705.
