WATERBURY – Mr. Jose Rodriguez, age 87 of Waterbury, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 20, 2023, at St Mary’s Hospital after a brief illness. He was the husband of the late Tulidania (Gonzalez) Rodriguez.
Jose was born on July 13, 1935, in Utuado, Puerto Rico, the son of the late Juan and Maria Alicea Rodriguez. Jose worked for many years at the Refuse Dept. of the City of Waterbury as a Collector. He was a loyal, avid Boston Red Sox fan. He was well known for his home garden, where he would spend many hours. He was also famous for the handmade fishing nets that he made himself. What was most important to Jose was his family and spending as much time as possible with them. Jose of the last surviving member of Juan and Maria’s family of 11 children. May his blessing be a memory to all.
Left to cherish his memory and honor his legacy are her children: Jose M Rodriguez of Hartford, Tony Rodriguez and his wife Raquel Soto of Waterbury, Johnnie Rodriguez and his wife Lourdes of Bristol, Carmen Rodriguez and her husband Luis of Waterbury, Rosa Sanchez and her husband David of Lattimer Mines PA, Lydia Rodriguez and Maria Rodriguez both of Waterbury. He also leaves 17 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 1 great, great granddaughter as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members.
Funeral services for Mr. Rodriguez will be held on Wednesday January 25, 2023, when a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Todos Los Santos, St Anne’s Church, South Main St Waterbury at 12 noon. Those planning to attend are asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with Jose’s family on Tuesday, January 24, 2023, from 4:00 until 7:00 pm at Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 1987 East Main St @ Southmayd Rd Waterbury.
