WATERBURY - Mr. Jose Alberto "Papo" Velez age 50 of Waterbury passed away Monday April 28th 2014 at Saint Mary's Hospital surronded by his loving family after an extended illness. He was the husband of Elizabeth (Morales) Velez.
Mr. Velez was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico the son of the late Jose and Maria (Mercado) Velez. Jose was devoted to his family and was always happiest while spending time with them.
Besides his wife Elizabeth he is survived by his children Jose A Velez Jr. his three stepchildren Ramon, Angel, and Elizabeth Morales, his nine grandchildren, his sister Marisol Vega, and his two brothers Jorge and Braulio Velez. He is predeceased by two brothers Alex and Milton Velez.
Funeral services for Mr. Velez will be held on Thursday, May 1, 2014 at 10:00am from Eastside Memorial A Casey Family Funeral Home & Tribute Center, 1987 East Main St @ Southmayd Rd. Waterbury. To Sacred Heart, Sagrado Corazon Church 13 Wolcott St. Waterbury to celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery, Waterbury. Relatives and friends may visit with Jose's family on Thursday morning at the funeral home from 8:00am until the time of the service.
