WATERBURY - Mr. Joseph F. Dunnigan Jr. age 78, formerly of Longmeadow Dr. Waterbury, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Monday June 24th 2013 at Meridian Manor Health Care Facility after an extended illness. He was the widower of Sally (Kerwin) Dunnigan.
Joe was born November 7th 1934 in Pittston PA, the son of the late Joseph F. And Frances (Walsh) Dunnigan and worked as a manager at Fulton market and also spent many years working as a teamsters driver at Hostess Baking Company with the Local 677 Teamsters prior to his retirement. He was an avid sports fan and a long time softball empire, and football referee in the greater Waterbury area and was a dedicated Boston Redsox fan and served as the former President of the Olympian Club of Greater Waterbury as well as a member of the Washington Hill Club, and a parishioner of Saint Francis Xavier Church.
Among his survivors are his children, Joseph Dunnigan and his wife Denise of Wolcott, MaryAnn Dunnigan of Prospect, Patricia Petrovich and her husband John of New Port Richey, FL and Sally Dunnigan-Scott and her husband Bob of Waterbury, as well as 3 grandchildren and one great granddaughter. He is predeceased by his daughter, Barbara.
Funeral services for Mr. Dunnigan will be held on June 28th, 2013 9:00am from Eastside Memorial, A CASEY FAMILY FUNERAL HOME AND TRIBUTE CENTER, 1987 East Main St @ Southmayd Rd to St. Francis Xavier Church, 625 Baldwin St Waterbury to celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30AM. Rites of Committal will follow in All Saints Cemetery, Waterbury. Memorial donations in Joe's memory may be made to Vitas innovative Hospice at 199 Park Road Extension Suite 102, Middlebury, CT 06762.
