MERIDEN- Joseph George Ganavage III, age 65, of Meriden, formerly of Waterbury, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 11, 2022 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was the loving husband of Melody (Scott) Ganavage for 39 years.
Joseph was born on March 7, 1957 in Waterbury, CT, the son of the late Joseph and Lillian (DesLauriers) Ganavage Jr. He went on to serve in the United States Marine Corps from 1974- 1976 with an honorable discharge. He was proud to have served as the Commander of the Brass city young Marines. Joseph then went on to work for the City of Waterbury Park Department for around 20 years, he was also with the recreation department and school department while working for the city. Joseph met Melody Scott in 1978 and they got married in 1983. He helped raise his 5 grandchildren. In his spare time, Joseph enjoyed singing songs, wood carving, and spending time with his family and friends. Joseph was given the nickname “Gabby” by his longtime friends. He will be missed greatly and remembered for having the biggest heart full of love, compassion, and respect.
Left to honor his legacy and cherish his memory beside his wife, Melody are their three children; Jennifer Ganavage, Joseph Ganavage IV, and Jeffrey Ganavage, five grandchildren; Edmund Ganavage, Zachary Ganavage, David Rodriguez, Joseph Gorner Jr. and Dominic Gorner, two great grandchildren; Victor and Luna Ganavage. Sisters Annemarie Strikcani, and Karen Dionne. Brother John Ganavage, along with many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.
