AT THE CASEY-O'DONNELL FAMILY FUNERAL HOME

Waterbury ?" Mr. Joseph Harvey Harris, age 71, of Knoll St Waterbury, died Monday, May 11, 2009 surrounded by his family at St. Mary's Hospital after a brief illness. He was the husband of Delores (Daley) Harris.

Joseph was born on October 6, 1937 in Springfield IL., the son of the late Walter R. and Margaret (Conley) Harris. He attended local schools and was a veteran of the US Army. He was employed at Burndy of Waterbury more recently known as Framatome for over 30 years. He also worked for Southbury Training School at the powerhouse. Joe enjoyed bowling at Perrillo's Bowl-a-drome, he was a loyal Yankee fan but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He was a parishioner of the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception.

Besides his devoted wife of 50 years, Joseph leaves two children, Joseph Harris Jr. and his wife Rose Ann of Watertown and Tracy Harris Shugrue of Waterbury, his grandchildren, Richard Harris, Jessica Shugrue, Amy Schifilliti, Crystal Harris, Joseph Harris III, Patsy Harris and Sophia Harris as well as two great grandchildren, Terrah Harris and Evan Harris. He also leaves his brothers and sisters; Dora Spada of West Hartford, Hazel Mecier of Torrington, John Harris and his wife Kathy of Waterbury, Charles Harris of Naugatuck, Walter Harris of Martinville VA, Margaret Taylor and her husband Thomas of Waterbury, James Harris and his wife Addie of Oakville, Rosemary Monaghan and her husband Gregory of Waterbury and his sister-in-law, Aceli Harris of Oakville and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his grandson, Maurice Shugrue IV, his brothers, Thomas and David Harris and his sister Gladys Cipollone Gaudiosi.

Funeral services for Mr. Harris will be held on Thursday May 14, 2009 at 10:00am from the Casey-O'Donnell Family Funeral Home 1581 East Main St Waterbury to The Basilica of the Immaculate Conception 74 West Main St. Waterbury for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Burial with full military honors will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Family and friends may visit at the funeral home today from 5 ?" 8 pm.
