OAKVILLE,CT- Joseph R. Hitchcock, 49, fiancé of Shelley Bright, passed away on Sunday, April 18, 2021 at his home in Oakville, CT.
Joe was born on March 27, 1972 in St. Louis, MO and was the son of Richard N. Hitchcock Sr. of Martinsburg, WV and the late Beverly (Porter) Hitchcock of St. Louis, MO. Joe earned a bachelor's degree in education at Southern CT State University in New Haven, CT. He proudly served his country as a U.S. Marine. Corporal Hitchcock was a field radio operator, a parachutist, and participated in Operation Restore Hope in Somalia. Joe worked for Behr Paint Co. for many years. One of Joe's greatest passions in life was music. He loved listening, playing guitar, and was a huge fan of the bands Phish and The Grateful Dead.
Joe's greatest passion was being a father to his children, Jackson and Hannah Hitchcock of Middlebury, CT. who will cherish his memory and carry on his legacy. He also leaves his brothers; Richard and his wife Victoria Hitchcock and Brett Hitchcock, all of Tampa, FL; his sisters; Jean Hitchcock of Fort Mill, SC, and Caroline and her husband, Chris DeFrancesco of Newington, CT, Jill and her husband Chris Coda of Frederick, MD his step mother, Nancy Hitchcock, and several aunts, uncles, nieces nephews and cousins. In addition to his mother, he was predeceased by his sister Ann Feldman.
A celebration of Joe's life will be announced at a later time. O'Neill funeral Home has been honored to assist the Hitchcock family during this difficult time.
