WATERBURY – Joseph Jakubczyk, age 76 of Waterbury, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 31, 2023, at St. Mary’s Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Sandra (Fisher) Jakubczyk, his devoted wife of 53 wonderful years.
Joseph was born in Waterbury on February 10, 1947, son of the late George and Josephine (Szymanski) Jakubczyk. He was educated in local schools and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was employed as a Brazer throughout his life, retiring from his trade in 2009. Joseph enjoyed fishing, being outdoors, working in his yard, bowling and shopping at Walmart. What was most important to Joe was his family. He recently became a great-grandfather, and nothing brought him more joy than spending time with his family. A uniquely special person, he will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know and love him.
Left to honor his legacy and cherish his memory besides his wife are his three children: Joseph Jakubczyk Jr. (girlfriend Darlene Lance), Steven Jakubczyk, and, Jennifer Jakubczyk. He also leaves his grandchildren; Jeffery (girlfriend Martina), Aby (boyfriend DaShaun), great grandson, DaShaun "DJ" Wilson, niece who was like a daughter Rosalee Maldonado. Sister Margie Lefebvre, sister-in-law, Joyce (Charlie)Dubicki, brother-in-law, Thomas (Donna) Fisher, sister-in-law, Mary (Matthew) Bucko, brother-in-law, Michael (Carmen) Fisher, along with several nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family and friends. Joseph was predeceased by his siblings, Tony, Mary, Eddie, Ginger, George and Linda.
Relatives and friends may visit with Joseph’s family on Wednesday evening, April 5, 2023, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 1987 East Main St. @ Southmayd Rd., Waterbury. Burial with full Military Honors will be held on Thursday, April 6, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at the State Veterans Cemetery, Bow Lane, Middletown. Those planning to attend may await the funeral procession at the main gate.
