"Beloved family man and Waterbury Fire Captain"
WATERBURY - Joseph "Joe Pett" Pettinicchi entered into eternal rest on February 3, 2020. He was the loving husband of Mary "Joan" (Phelan) Pettinicchi. They were happily married for 61 years.
Joe was born on March 3, 1937 in Waterbury and was the son of the late Mary and William Pettinicchi. He was a graduate of Wilby High School and proudly served his country in the United States Navy.
Joe dedicated his life to his family. He was loved by all who knew him. He was the life of every party and his smile was contagious. Joe proudly served the Waterbury Fire Department for 34 years retiring with the rank of Captain. Joe Pett was an active member of the Washington Hill Athletic Club as well as the Waterbury Elks Club. He was a dedicated parishioner of St Francis Xavier Church. He was am avid fan of the Boston Red Sox, UCONN Womens Basketball Team and New England Patriots. He attempted to play golf - mostly enjoying the time with his friends more than excelling at the sport, enjoying the 19th hole the most!
Left to cherish his memory and honor his love and legacy besides his loving wife, are his daughters; Brenda Pettinicchi and Kathy Stamp, and his brother William (Gertrude) Pettinicchi. Joe and Joan were blessed with 4 grandchildren; Eric (Sarah) Acosta, Diana (Robert) Veillette, Shelley Stamp and Laura (Sam) Tajildeen who will forever cherish the memories of Grampy. He was also blessed with his great grandchildren; Zachary Francisco, Noah Francisco, Mia Tajildeen, Lia Santana and Ava Tajildeen and his great granddaughter, Olivia Veillette. Joe also leaves his nieces and nephews: David (Annette) Frappier, Beth Ann (Steven) Rote, Richard (Cheryl) Frappier, Lisa (Richard) Blaszczyk, and Mark (Michele) Pettinicchi. He was predeceased by his sister Mary Frappier, son-in-law Kevin Stamp, and nephew and Godson Steven Pettinicchi.
Funeral services for Mr Pettinicchi will be held on Friday, February 7, 2020 when a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Francis Xavier Church 625 Baldwin St Waterbury at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be held at the convenience of his family. Relatives and friends may visit with Joe's family on Thursday evening from 4:00 till 7:00 p.m. at Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home, 1987 East Main St @ Southmayd Rd. Waterbury.
