WATERBURY - Mrs. Josephine Galuppo, age 87, passed away peacefully on January 24, 2015 at the Vitas Innovative Care Unit of St. Mary's Hospital surrounded by the love and comfort of her family after an extended illness. She was the widow of Henry F. Galuppo whom she married on September 28, 1946
Josephine was born September 23, 1927 in Oakville CT, the daughter of the late Angelo and Madeline (Grasso) Manzilino. She was a graduate of South School in Oakville and worked for TAT Fairfield Optical Lab for 13 years and at Cedar Lane Rehabilitation Center for 27 years. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Waterbury and she loved to cook and bake Sunday dinners for her family.
Among her survivors are her daughters, Linda Biello and her husband, Mike of Watertown, Claudia Andrade and her husband, Tony of Wolcott; her three grandchildren, Mark Maietto and his wife Beth, Aaron Maietto, Deandra Andrade; her great-grandchildren Tyler and Brandon Maietto as well as several nieces nephews as well as her dear friends, Jan and Murray Helfand as well as her faithful companion, Jasmine who she affectionately referred to as "PooPoo" She is predeceased by her brothers and sisters Peter, Louie, Mary, Carmella, Angie and Lucy.
Josephine's family will be forever grateful to those who provided care and comfort to her especially the nurses, PCA's and doctors at Saint Mary's Hospital and the Vitas Inpatient Unit.
Funeral services for Mrs. Galuppo will be held on Thursday January 29th 2015 at 10:15am from EASTSIDE MEMORIAL "A Casey Family Funeral Home and Tribute Center," 1987 East Main St., Waterbury to Our Lady of Lourdes Church 309 South Main St Waterbury when a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be held privately at the convenience of the family in Calvary Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with Josephine's family on Wednesday evening at the funeral home from 5:00-7:00pm.
