Devoted to her family
WATERBURY - It is with sorrow, we announce the passing of long time, Waterbury native, Josephine “Dodo” (nee Petrucci) McCormack. Mrs. McCormack passed peacefully on Thursday, July 21, 2022, after a battle with cancer. She was the widow of Francis McCormack.
To her family and friends, she was a spirited socialite and golfer at the Watertown Golf Club, a regular patron of the Silas Bronson Library, avid knitter and gardener, and loving mother and grandmother to her family. Along with her husband, Mr. Francis McCormack, she travelled the world on vacations, competed in many ladies golfing tournaments, and helped raise her four grandsons. Mrs. McCormack was strong proponent for animal rights and care by donations to the local Animal Humane Society, sponsor of St. Jude’s charities, and St. Vincent De Paul shelters. Dodo enjoyed life to the fullest blessed by the love of her family and friends.
Mrs. McCormack’s legacy is survived by her three children, Nancy McCormack-Griffin and
husband Daniel Griffin, Kathleen McCormack, and James McCormack and fiancé Maureen
Murphy. Her four grandsons, John Francis Thompson and husband Jeffrey Sherman, Jay Shiel
and wife Shannon Shiel, and Zachary and Brendon McCormack will miss playing scrabble with
her and enjoying her homemade apple pie.
All services for Mrs. McCormack will be private for the family. To honor Mrs. McCormack’s memory and in lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to St. Jude’s charities or Brass City Animal Alliance.
