OAKVILLE - Josephine (Ritucci) Spillane, 91 years young, passed away at St. Mary's Hospital on Friday, July 29, 2016, surrounded by her loving family.
Jo was born in Waterbury on March 19, 1925 (St. Joseph's Day), the fourth of six children born to the late Domenic and Mary Ritucci of Frigento, Italy. She graduated from Merriman Grammar School and Wilby High School, where she learned her future secretarial profession. She retired in 1987 after a career at Gerald Metals Corporation in Waterbury. Jo had a magnetic personality and a witty sense of humor that drew others to her. She enjoyed travelling, playing Scrabble, far-away lunches, monthly breakfasts with her friends, and bowling with the Seniors. Jo valued family above all else.
She leaves behind her four children, Mary-Ellie Stankus, her husband Mike, and their daughters, Michelle and Lisa; Michael Spillane, his daughters, Chrissy and Kelly, and his granddaughter Addison; Thomas Spillane, his wife Dawn, and their daughters, Courtney and Jessica; and Edward (Ted) Spillane, his wife Linda, and their children Cydnee, Baylie, and Jayden. Jo also leaves behind her sisters, Ann Durso and Florine DeCorso, and several loving nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Jo was predeceased by her husband, Edward; siblings, John Ritucci, Rose Pisani, and Reverend Thomas Ritucci; and her grandson, Riley Spillane. Jo will be sorely missed by her family and friends, but the love and laughter she shared will never be forgotten.
