WATERBURY - Joyce (Warner) Coretto, age 85 of Waterbury, passed away unexpectedly on December 30, 2017 at Saint Mary's Hospital surrounded by the love and comfort of her family. She was the beloved wife of Charles Coretto Sr.
Joyce was born November 14, 1932 in Waterbury, CT, the daughter of the late L. Clifford and Margaret (Jones) Warner. Joyce was a graduate of Waterbury Catholic High and received her associate's degree in Nursing from Saint Mary's Hospital School of Nursing, where she was privileged to serve as class president. Joyce was a very talented and skilled nurse and held various nursing position at Saint Mary's Hospital where she worked for 46 years until her retirement in 1999. The two most important things in life to Joyce were her family and her faith. She was a devout Catholic and dedicated to her faith and instilled those beliefs in her children and family. She was a former member of Saints Peter and Paul Church and served as a Eucharistic Minister at Sacred Heart Church. Joyce was always happiest when she was surrounded by the love of her family and friends, especially while spending summers in R.I. Joyce will be sadly missed by all those who were blessed to know and love her.
Besides her husband Charles of 52 years, Joyce is survived by her children; Charles Coretto Jr. of Waterbury, Margaret Smith and her husband, Richard of Prospect and Mary "Kate" Hathaway of Oakville. She is also survived by her sister in laws; Joan Warner and Elizabeth Garofalo. In addition she also leaves her 3 adored grandchildren, Amanda Deschenes, Joshua Hathaway and Brian Hathaway. She was predeceased by her brothers and sisters, William Warner, Mary Warner-Berube, J. Robert Warner MD., Janice Warner Mascoli, L. Clifford Warner D.D.S., John Warner and her son in-law, Gary Hathaway.
Funeral services for Mrs, Coretto will be held on Thursday January 4, 2018 when a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:00am at Saints Peter and Paul Church Southmayd Rd Waterbury. Those planning to attend are asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will follow in New Calvary Cemetery, Waterbury. Friends and relatives may visit with Joyce's family on Wednesday evening from 4:00 - 7:00 pm at Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Tribute Center," 1987 East Main St. @ Southmayd Rd.
