AT THE CASEY-O'DONNELL FAMILY FUNERAL HOME
Wolcott Joyce G. Peterson, age 88, of Spindle Hill Rd Wolcott, died peacefully Thursday September 23, 2010 at Waterbury Hospital after an extended illness. She was the widow of Arthur W. Peterson.
Mrs. Peterson was born February 28th 1922 in Waterbury, the daughter of the late Michael Clarence and Florence (Beecher) German. She was a graduate of Wilby High School and graduated from Post Jr. College where she received a secretarial degree. Joyce worked for several business in the Greater Waterbury area including, North American/Webster Bank and retired from there after many years of service. She was former member of Wolcott Congregational Church and was a member of the Choir there. More recently, she was a member of the First Congregational Church of Waterbury. Joyce also served as a board member of Wolcott Wetlands Commission and was a active member of the Wolcott Senior Center. Her hobbies included knitting, ceramics, reading and hiking.
Among her survivors are her two daughters; Christine Phelan and her husband John of Wolcott, and Martha Arquett and her husband, Doctor William Arquett of Norfolk , CT, her sisters Marjorie McKennerney of Waterbury and Doris Upton of S. Dennis MA. five grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She is pre-deceased by her daughter, Gail Chenkus.
A memorial services for Mrs. Peterson will be held Thursday, September 30th at 2:00p.m. at the First Congregational Church of Waterbury 222 W. Main Street followed by a reception in Clinton Hall. There are no calling hours. The Casey-O'Donnell Family Funeral Home 1581 East Main St Waterbury has been entrusted to assist the family with arrangements.
