Enjoyed spending time in his garden
WATERBURY - Juan "Nica" Pedro Soto age 91, of Waterbury, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 3, 2020 at the Vitas Innovative Care Unit at Saint Mary's Hospital surrounded by the love and comfort of his family after an extended illness. He was the husband of Herenia (Gonzalez) Soto.
Nica was born August 26th 1928 in Puerto Rico the son of the late Juan Bastida and Maria Eugenia (Ruiz) Soto. He moved to the Waterbury area in 1962 and spent many years working for various manufacturing companies throughout the Waterbury area until his retirement. Juan was a talented gardener and loved to spend long summer days growing vegetables and tending to his yard. Juan also had a passion for raising animals and especially enjoyed raising rabbits. What brought the greatest joy to Juan was spending time with his family especially his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He will be sadly missed by all who were blessed to know and love him.
Left to cherish his memories and honor Juan's love and legacy are his children; Edwin Soto and his wife, Elba of Waterbury, Abidalina Rodriguez and her significant other, Johnny Rivera of Waterbury and Hiragida Santiago and her significant other, Gerardo Serrano of Bridgeport. In addition he also leaves his brother Adriane Soto of Waterbury, his 6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren as well as many other extended family members and friends. He is predeceased by his son Wilfredo Soto.
Funeral Services for Mr. Soto held on Wednesday, January 8th 2020 at 10:30 a.m. at Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home 1987 East Main St @ Southmayd Rd Waterbury CT 06705. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery Spring Lake Rd Waterbury. Relatives and friends may visit with Juan's family on Wednesday morning from 9:00am until the time of the service at 10:30am.
