AT THE CASEY - O'DONNELL FAMILY FUNERAL HOME - WATERBURY CT. Ms. Juanita Joseph, age 96, of the Village at East Farms, died Saturday at home after an extended illness.
Ms. Joseph was born March 22, 1914, the daughter of the late Joseph and Anna (Akoury) Joseph. Juanita was a graduate of the Waterbury Hospital School of Nursing. She joined the US Army and proudly served her country as an Army nurse during World War II on an Army Hospital Ship. She returned to Waterbury and worked as a Registered Nurse at Waterbury Hospital for many years, serving as Director of the School of Nursing as well as Director of the Chase Clinic. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Lebanon Church in Waterbury.
Juanita is survived by many cousins of the: George, Mowad, Jarjura and Morcey families most notably, Mayor Michael J. Jarjura who played an active role in the care of his two elderly Aunts. She was predeceased by her sister, Josephine Steiner in 2006 and her brother Arthur Joseph in 1949.
Funeral services Ms. Joseph will be held on Tuesday, November 30, 2010 at 10:00 am from the Casey O'Donnell Family Funeral Home 1581 East Main St. Waterbury to Our Lady of Lebanon Church, 8 East Mountain Rd Waterbury for a Service of the Holy Mysteries of Christian Burial at 10:30am. Burial with full military honors will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Tuesday morning from 9:000 till 10:00am. Memorial donations in Ms. Joseph's memory may be made to Our Lady of Lebanon Church, 8 East Mountain Rd. Waterbury CT 06706.
