Ms. Judith L. Johnston

April 19, 1946 — March 16, 2025

Beloved Sister and Aunt

WATERBURY - It is with profound sorrow that the family of Judith L. Johnston, age 78, share the news of her peaceful passing in the comfort of her home surrounded by the love and comfort of her family, on March 16, 2025, after an extended illness.

Judith was born in Waterbury, CT, on April 19th, 1946, the daughter of the late James and Kathleen (Brown) Johnston. Judith was a graduate of Saint Mary's Grammar School and Waterbury Catholic High School, laying the foundation for a dedicated career that began in the banking industry. She devoted many years of her life to serving as a Corporate Compliance Officer for Colonial Bank and Bank of Boston, before transitioning to her role as an examiner at the State of Connecticut D.M.V. A lover of literature and music, Judith had an extensive CD collection that spanned every genre. She delighted in traveling the world, cherishing the diverse experiences that life had to offer. Each Saturday, she looked forward to gathering with her sisters to enjoy a movie, creating beautiful memories filled with laughter and joy. Being 1 of 11 children, Judith poured her heart into spoiling her countless nieces and nephews, treating them with a special affection. You see an aunt with no children of her own redefines the title, “Aunt”. She gladly accepts her nieces and nephews with great love as children of her own. As we honor Judith's life, let us remember her kindness, her laughter, and her undying love for family and friends. Her absence will be felt, but her influence of compassion and joy will remain with those who were blessed to know and love her.

Left to honor and cherish her memory are her sisters; Sandra Bartolini of Waterbury, Carol Johnston, and Marian Huckins, both of Wolcott, as well as many nieces, nephews, other extended family members, and many friends. She was predeceased by her siblings; James Johnston, Margaret (Peggy) Brick, Kathleen (Bonnie) Lamantini, Robert, Richard, Gerald and Michael Johnston.
