Waterbury - Mrs Julia D'Ambrisi Carroll, 101, formerly of Lannen Street & Englewood Avenue, Waterbury, CT. passed away on Friday, March 23, at Mattatuck Health Care, Waterbury, CT, She was the beloved wife of the late John J. Carroll.
Julie was born in Waterbury, CT May 8, 1910, the daughter of the late Italian immigrants, Salvatore & Carmella (DiLeone) D'Ambrisi. Julie was a life long resident of Waterbury, attending local schools. She retired from Lakeview Convalescent Home, Cheshire CT as a nurse's aide at the age of 75. Many years ago she was also employed at the former Waterbury Clock Company & U.S. Time Corp, presently Timex. She won the title of "Miss Ingersoll", a popularity contest at the "Clock Shop", of which she was most proud. Julie was a caring mother, grandmother & great grandmother. Her greatest pleasure was spending time with her family.
Julie is survived by a daughter, Roberta and her husband Maurice Connors of Thomaston,
two grandchildren, Monica McGlinchey & her husband David of Duxbury, MA & MJ Connors of Boston, MA, her two great grandchildren, Taylor & Cassidy also of Duxbury, MA. as well as a brother in law, Peter Byrnes of Thomaston, and several nieces and nephews.
She is the last of 17 siblings, predeceased by five brothers Michael, Ernest, Wilson, John & George & predeceased by six sisters, Florence D'Ambrisi, Charlotte Lauria, Mildred D'Ambrisi, Marion Adkins, Anne Garthwait, and Marguerite Stanley. She was also predeceased by five half brothers and sisters, Norman, Rose Iannantuoni, Helen Basile, Errico and Josephine Orsini.
Julie's family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the staff at Mattatuck Health Care for their many years of care, concern and support. She was a communicant at the former St. Thomas Church and previously for many years at S.S. Peter & Paul Church.
Funeral services for Mrs. Carroll will be held on Saturday, March 31, 2012 with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30a.m. at Saints Peter & Paul Church in Waterbury. Burial follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Watertown, CT. Respecting her wishes, there are no calling hours. Casey-O'Donnell Funeral Home has been entrusted to assist her family with arrangements.
