OAKVILLE CT Julia Alice (Ramsey) Currier, 71 died on February 5, 2008 at St. Mary's Hospital after a brief illness. She was the widow of Donald W. Currier.
Julia was born on July 5, 1936 in Washington, New Hampshire, the daughter of the late George and Sarah (Wood) Ramsey. She was educated in New Hampshire and was a graduate of Walpole High School. She lived in Oakville since she graduated from High School. She and her late husband were the former owners of the Sportsmans Restaurant in Oakville for many years. She was quite active in the Oakville American Legion Post 195, Ladies Auxiliary where she was a member for over 50 years and also served as Treasurer. She was employed at Southbury Training School as a Cottage Supervisor and retired in 1992. She was a member of the Union Congregational Church in Oakville.
Julia is survived by three stepchildren, Donald C. Currier of Norfolk CT, Patricia J. Noel of Northfield CT and Cheryl A. Burton of Harwinton CT. She also leaves three brothers, George Ramsey Jr of Walpole New Hampshire, John Ramsey of Waterbury and David Ramsey of Drewsville New Hampshire and four sisters; Phebe Thurston of Southbury, Mildred Ball of Swanzey New Hampshire, Velma Roy of Jaffrey New Hampshire and Jeanie Hickox of Marlborough New Hampshire as well as several nieces and nephews. She leaves 11 grandchildren and 4 Great Grandchildren. She was predeceased by two sisters, Sarah Elizabeth Symonds and Eunice Ball and two brothers James Ramsey and Raymond Ramsey as well as a stepdaughter Linda L. Woodruff.
Funeral services for Mrs. Currier will be held on Saturday, February 9, 2008 at 10:30am at the O'Neill Funeral Home 742 Main St. Oakville. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery Watertown.
