OAKVILLE - Julia (Palomba) Rubbo, age 93, passed away peacefully at Regal Care, Waterbury on July 18, 2017. She was the widow of Angelo A. Rubbo, whom she married in 1948.
Julia was born on December 9, 1923 in Oakville, the daughter of the late Pasquale and Carmella (Parente) Palomba. She was a lifelong resident of Oakville and graduated from Watertown High School in 1942. Over the years, Julia worked as an executive secretary at Princeton Knitting Mills as well as Accelerated Collection Systems of Waterbury She was a cook at Waterbury Extended Care and was very active in St. Thomas Church and School in Waterbury.
Julia leaves behind her two beloved daughters, Roslyn Bartolini and her husband, David of Oakville and Rosanne White and her husband, Ray of Charlotte, NC. She also leaves her brother, Alfred Palomba of Thomaston, her four grandchildren, Marissa and Michael Bartolini, Julia Rubbo-Sandoval and her husband, Jesse and Sydney White as well as her five great grandchildren. Julia was predeceased by her two sons, Joseph M. Rubbo and Ronald R. Rubbo as well as her brothers; Carlo, Thomas, Michael, Pasquale, Lawrence and John Palomba. The family would like to extend special thanks and gratitude to the staff at Regal Care, Waterbury for their care and support.
Funeral services for Mrs. Rubbo will be held on Tuesday, July 25, 2017 when a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Lourdes Church at 309 South Main Street, Waterbury at 10:00 AM. Family and friends are asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours.
