THE CASEY FAMILY IS HONORED TO BE CARING FOR AND ASSISTING THE FAMILY OF JULIE BRICK
WATERBURY - Julie Brick, 82, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2018, at Waterbury Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Timothy Brick.
Julie was born on Dec. 11, 1935, in the Bronx, N.Y. She graduated from Central Connecticut State University and earned a Master's Degree and Sixth Year Degree. She was a retired Wolcott High School English teacher and an Adjunct Professor at Post University and Naugatuck Valley Community College. She loved animals, travel, literature, movies and the N.Y. Giants. She was a Jeopardy champion. She traveled all throughout western Europe and Australia. She lectured on Albert Camus in Paris, France. She loved American history and was the personal secretary to the Thomas Jefferson historian, Dumas Malone.
She loved movies and the entertainment industry. She was an actress off-Broadway before her marriage. She attended the Paul Mann Actors Workshop in New York City. She interviewed Grace Kelly, Sidney Poitier, Steve McQueen and Carroll Baker. She could quote the dialogue and sing the musical score from hundreds of movies. Her favorite movie was Viva Zapata, which she viewed hundreds of times. Her favorite book was "The Old Man and the Sea" by Ernest Hemingway. She regularly quoted poetry and had an extraordinary memory. But her greatest love of all was for her dogs, whom she adored.
She leaves three children, Margaret Kautz of Culpeper, Va., Lisa Lugauskas and her husband, Michael, of Waterbury and Timothy Brick of Wilbraham, Mass. She also leaves five grandchildren, Nicholas Kautz and his wife, Mary, of Culpeper, Va., Richard Kautz and his wife, Diana, of Dallas, Texas, Rachel Kautz of Culpeper, Va., and Michelle and Matthew Lugauskas of Waterbury. She also leaves seven great-grandchildren, Landon, Emersyn, Valentina, Breezy, Cooper, Blake and Benjamin Jackson; and two sisters, Grace Pagano of New York, N.Y. and Elizabeth DiIanni of Florida; as well as her beloved dogs, Francine, Kelley and Brando.
