Wallingford - Mr. Julien F. Kosowicz of Waterbury, passed away after a brief illness on Tuesday, April 23, 2013 at Gaylord Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was the widower of Florence (St. Mary) Kosowicz.

Julien was born February 26th 1922 in Lowell, MA, the son of the late Frank and Karolina (Wojcik) Kosowicz. He was raised in the Lowell area where he attended local schools. He enlisted in the US Army and proudly served his country during World War II. After returning from the service, he completed his education at the Lowell Textile Institute where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Textile Engineering. After graduation, he moved to Waterbury where he worked as Project Engineer in Research & Development at Scovill Manufacturing where he was recognized as an expert in zippers., He retired in 1984. An avid sports fan, he enjoyed golfing, fishing, and politics. He was a parishioner of Saints Peter and Paul Church.

Among his survivors are his son, John Kosowicz of Waterbury, and his two daughters, Karen Olsen and her husband George of Great Falls, VA and Julene Del Cioppo and her husband Victor of Waterbury. He also leaves a sister, Mary Kondra and her husband John who reside in Florida. He is also survived by his loving grandchildren: Jennifer Del Cioppo and her companion Ray Murelli; Scott Biondi and his wife Angela; Alyssa Brodzinski and her husband Mark; Mark Biondi and his wife Megan; Stephen Olsen and his wife Cate; and Daniel Olsen. He was blessed with three great grandchildren, Olivia Grace Brodzinski, Colin Mark Biondi, and Jack Henry Brodzinski. He is also survived by five nieces and two nephews as well as great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Stanley Kosowicz

Funeral services for Mr. Kosowicz will be held on Thursday, April 25th, 2013 at 10:00 am from EASTSIDE MEMORIAL "A Casey Family Funeral Home and Tribute Center" 1987 East Main St Waterbury @ Southmayd Rd. to SS Peter & Paul Church 67 Southmayd Rd. Waterbury to celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30am. Committal services, with full military honors, will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with Julien's family at the funeral home on Thursday morning from 8:30 until 10:00am. In great appreciation for the exceptional care that Julien and his family received at Gaylord Hospital, donations in Julien's memory may be made to Gaylord Hospital Foundation, P.O.
