AT THE O'NEILL FUNERAL HOME - Juliette "Judy" (Fournier) Stemm, age 91, formerly of Waterbury, died Friday February 4, 2011 at the Middlebury Convalescent Home. She was the widow of John "Jack" Stemm.
Mrs. Stemm was born September 4, 1919, in Manchester, New Hampshire, a daughter of the late Jean Baptiste and Maria (Vallee) Fournier. Mrs. Stemm moved to the Bunker Hill section of Waterbury in 1942 where she raised her four children. In her later years, Mrs. Stemm spent time at home caring for her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Grandma Judy enjoyed country music, cooking, dancing and old Hollywood films. Energetic and outgoing, Judy was the life of any family gathering.
Mrs. Stemm is survived by three children; Marlene Stemm-Speers of Middlebury, John Stemm of Waterbury, and Michael Stemm and his wife Maria of Branford, Connecticut. She also leaves thirteen grandchildren, many great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and a daughter-in law, Patricia, of Wolcott. She was predeceased by a son, Robert of Waterbury. She was also pre-deceased by three brothers James, Leopold "Paul" and Ferdinand Fournier and five sisters, Noella Longhi, Blanche Serlise, Germaine Lacondrata, Irene Lasalata, and Rollande Lambert.
Funeral services for Mrs. Stemm will be held privately and at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours.
