WOLCOTT - Justina Do Carmo, age 85 of Wolcott CT, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 8th 2019 with her loving family by her side at St Mary's Hospital after a brief illness. She was the widow of Alberto Do Carmo
Justina was born April 9th 1934 in Alportel, Portugal, the daughter of the late Antonio and Francisca Nunes Bentes. Justina came to the US in 1972 and worked for the Waterbury Buckle Company for many years until her retirement. She enjoyed crafting and was a great cook and even sometimes sewed her own wardrobes. What was most important to Justina was her beloved family which brought her great pride and joy. She will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know and love her.
Left to cherish her memory and honor Justina's love and legacy are her son, Jorge Do Carmo and his wife, Maria G. Do Carmo, her daughter, Maria Do Carmo-Vilar and her husband, Adelino Vilar all of Wolcott. She was also blessed by grandchildren; Anthony Do Carmo and his partner, Priscilla Muniz-Rua and Christine Mazzotta and her husband, Christopher, as well as her great granddaughter, Catarina Mazzotta (the new love of her life). Justina was also survived by her sister, Manuela Bentes Dos Santos of Montijo Portugal, as well as many cousins and devoted friends and extended family. She was predeceased by her brother, Anibal Bentes and her sister, Isabel Nunes Bentes .
Funeral Services for Mrs. Do Carmo will be held on Thursday, December 12, 2019 at 10:00 at Our Lady of Fatima Church 2071Baldwin St Waterbury, CT 06706. Those planning to attend are asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery, Waterbury.
