AT THE CASEY-ODONNELL FAMILY FUNERAL HOME
WATERBURY CT. Mrs. Katherine "Kay" (Smith) Casey, died unexpectedly on Wednesday at St. Mary's Hospital. She was the wife of William F. Casey
Mrs. Casey was born in Waterbury, the daughter of the late Charles and Anna (Gauthier) Smith. She was educated in local schools and graduated from Sacred Heart High School. Kay was a well known school crossing guard in Waterbury's East End for many years but to her family she was "Mom", always putting the needs of her husband and children above her own. She was most happy when the family would gather and enjoy her many dishes especially her baking. Kay was a parishioner of the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception.
Besides her loving and devoted husband of 62 years, Kay leaves four children; William of Hartford, Robert J and his wife Tracie of Seattle WA, Susan Kociszewski and her husband Richard of Harwichport MA and Patricia DeMaida and her husband Joseph of Newtown CT. Kay also leaves her 5 grandchildren, Kristina, Brian, Robert, Brandon and Jordan and 3 great grandchildren, Christopher, Brian and Tatum. Kay was the last surviving child of the Smith family of 10 and leaves many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Casey will be held on Monday, August 23, 2010 at 9:00am from the Casey-O'Donnell Family Funeral Home 1581 East Main St. Waterbury to the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am to be celebrated by the Rev. Monsignor Robert Weiss a close family friend. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Sunday from 3-5pm.
