Gifted teacher, dedicated to her family and her faith
BRISTOL - Mrs. Kelsey Lynn Coker, 50, of Bristol, CT, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 5, 2023. She was the loving wife of Robert Coker for twenty-nine years.
Kelsey was born October 28, 1972, in Waterbury, CT, the daughter of Roland and Noreen (Bergin) Parent of Waterbury. She graduated valedictorian from Central Christian Academy in Southington and she received both her Bachelor and Master of Science in education from Pensacola Christian College. For nearly twenty years, she touched many lives as a gifted teacher of junior and senior high school students. Kelsey was an avid reader and writer, and she also enjoyed knitting, quilting, and origami. After retiring from teaching, she used her computer skills working for Party Plus, Sozo, and Progressive Specialty Glass. She was a beloved wife, daughter, sister, auntie, and friend who showed her love for others in practical and creative ways. Being the oldest child of a large family, she was a natural caregiver to all. Kelsey had a strong faith in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. This was reflected in the way she lived her life.
Besides her parents and her husband, Rob, Kelsey is survived by her siblings and their families, Jessica and Joe Franzo, Amy and Mike Schwartz, Jeremy Morotto, Joshua Parent, Emily and Bobby Burns, Michael and Ginger Brown, and Kate Sabatino. She was predeceased by her grandparents, Charles and Elizabeth Bergin, and Albert and Corona Parent, and her brother Staff Sergeant Charles Parent. She also leaves many aunts, uncles, cousins, and twenty-seven nephews and nieces.
Friends and relatives may visit with Kelsey’s family at Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral Home at 1987 East Main St @ Southmayd Rd, Waterbury, on Thursday, August 10, 2023, from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm.
