Gone too soon
WOLCOTT - Mr. Kenneth B. Bernhard Jr, age 48 of New London, formerly of Wolcott, unexpectedly crossed into the gates of Heaven on Friday, August 11, 2023 at Lawrence & Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Billie J. Shears.
Kenneth was born on June 23, 1975 in Danbury, CT, the son of Kenneth B. Bernhard Sr of Bridgeport and Arlene (Cronin) Mainwaring of Wolcott. He was a graduate of Kaynor Tech in Waterbury and throughout his life, excelled in his employment endeavors that of which pertained to his ability to connect with other people. Kenny was a very compassionate person with a heart of gold, always willing to lend a hand whenever and wherever needed. Kenny always found a way to make everyone laugh no matter the situation. He enjoyed music, playing guitar and going to the gym. For a major portion of his life, he was a personal fitness instructor and took great joy in helping people reach their fullest potential. He also was an avid Miami Dolphins fan. Kenny will be greatly missed by all those who were blessed to know and love him.
Left to honor his legacy and cherish his memory, besides his wife and parents are his siblings; Kaity Loga and her husband, Korab of Wolcott, LeeAnn Bernhard of Bridgeport, and John Mainwaring III of Oregon. He also leaves his stepfather John Mainwaring Jr., his Uncle Rick Cronin and his niece, Luana Loga; as well as several cousins and extended family members and close friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. Bernhard will be held on Monday, August 28, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at St Basil the Great Church 525 Woodtick Rd Wolcott. Those planning to attend are asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will be held at the convenience of his family. A celebration of Kenny’s life will follow the mass at Bella’Gio Ristorante in Cheshire.
