WOLCOTT - Kenneth E. Donahue Sr. age 87, passed away peacefully at Wolcott View Manor on Tuesday February 24, 2015 after a brief illness. He was the loving, caring husband of the late Ann (Hyland) Donahue.
Ken was born in Waterbury on February 26, 1927, the son of the late Aidan and Martha (Burns) Donahue. He was educated in local schools and graduated from Leavenworth High School. He was employed as a Police Officer for the Town of Wolcott. He also owned and operated Donahue Auto Service in Wolcott was a member of the Teamsters union and was a Lieutenant with the Wolcott Volunteer Fire Co. # 1. Ken was a licensed pilot for many years and enjoyed his years of flying. Ken was a caring, grateful man, a talented handyman always willing to lend a helping hand. He enjoyed spending time with his family and was especially fond of his many dogs over the years. He was a parishioner of St. Pius X Church.
Ken is survived by his two sons: Kenneth E. Donahue Jr and his wife Janet of Southington and John and his wife, Frances of Morton IL., his sister, Joan Crowley of Wolcott, his brother-in-law Rev. Edward Hyland of Wolcott and 4 grandchildren; Atty. Gregory Donahue and his wife Leslie, Mark Donahue and his fiancée, Lauren, Patrick and Claire Donahue. He also leaves several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Aidan and Robert Donahue.
Funeral services for Mr. Donahue will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2015 at 10:00 am when a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St Pius X Church 517 Woodtick Road, Wolcott, CT 06716. Those planning to attend are asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waterbury. Relatives and friends may visit with Ken's family at Eastside Memorial, "A CASEY FAMILY FUNERAL HOME AND TRIBUTE CENTER", 1987 East Main St @ Southmayd Rd on Friday evening from 5:00 ~ 7:00pm.
