Kenneth Elwell

September 23, 1922 — May 8, 2017

WATERTOWN - Kenneth W. Elwell age 94 of Watertown passed away peacefully on
Monday May 8th at the Vitas Innovative Care Unit at Saint Mary's Hospital after a brief
illness. He was the husband of Shirley Marie (Machin) Elwell.Kenneth was born September 23
1922 in Waterbury, CT, the son of the late Charles H. Elwell Sr. and Gladys (Bell) Elwell. He was a graduate of Crosby High School, Class of 1941 and received his Associates Degree in Business from Post Jr College. Kenneth proudly served his country with the US Army Air Corps during World War II and was a
member of the Flying Colt 456th Bomb Group H stationed in Stornara, Province of Foggia,
Italy. He spent many years working as a Clerk Expeditor at Bristol Babcock until his
retirement and was a was former member of Saint John's Episcopal Church in Waterbury
where he was a long-time head usher and active on several committees. He was also a
former member of the American Legion. He enjoyed crossword puzzles, fishing and was
avid UCONN Huskies basketball fan.

The Elwell family would like to thank and acknowledge Doctor Jega and the staff at Vitas
Hospice for the loving care and support they provided to Kenneth and his family during his
illness.

Besides his wife, Shirley Marie of 69 years, he is survived by his son, David A. Elwell and
his wife, Janice of Oakville, his granddaughter, Erica Susan Morton and her husband,
Mitch as well as his niece and nephew. He is predeceased by his brother, Charles Horace
Elwell Jr.

Funeral services for Mr. Elwell will be held on Thursday, May 11, 2017 at 10:00am at
O'Neill Funeral Home 742 Main St Oakville with the Rev Michael Carroll of St John
Episcopal Church, Waterbury presiding. Burial with full military honors will follow in New
Pine Grove Cemetery, Waterbury. Relatives and friends may visit with Kenneth's family on
Thursday morning at the funeral home from 9:00am until the time of the services at 10:00
