WATERTOWN - Kent W. Barthelmess, age 71 of Watertown, passed away unexpectedly on Friday May 20th 2016 at Waterbury Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Joann (Kolatsky) Barthelmess for 32 years
Kent was born February 13, 1945 in Bridgeport, CT, the son of the late William H. and Madeleine (Chevalier) Barthelmess. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Nam era. Kent was an Investigator with the State of Connecticut, Wage and Hour Division for many years until his retirement.
He was an active member of the Woodbury Lions Club and a recipient of the Melvin Jones Award. He was also a Friend of Bill "W" and a member of the Board of Directors for the High Watch Recovery Center.
Kent loved to spend his summers at his home on Cape Cod and winter in Palm Springs where he spent time with his West Coast "brother" Bill Baer and family.
He was patriotic and loyal to all that called him friend. Kent was proud to be a blood donor, an animal advocate, a lover of all types of puzzles and mostly a mischief maker.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a brother William Barthelmess and his wife Debbie of Woodbury, sister-in-law Chrissy Totten and her husband Lee of Thomaston, brother-in-law Thomas Kolatsky and his wife Kathleen of Watertown,dear nieces and nephews, Amy Munn and her husband Todd, David Barthelmess and wife April, Lee Totten IV and his wife Jessica, Sara Anderson, Joe Rusenko, Thomas C. Kolatsky and his wife Emily, Daniel T. Kolatsky, Kaitlin A. Kolatsky, a goddaughter and grand niece, Julia s. Munn as well as many dear and loving grand nieces and grand nephews with whom he found great joy:Dani Barthelmess, Gabbi Anderson, Maggie, Dylan and Jake Totten and great nephew Braden Munn.He will be be missed at the many family gatherings that he shared with dear cousins and friends. He is predeceased by a grandniece Lily Anderson.
A Celebration of Kent's life will be held Saturday June 4th 2016 at The Grand Oak Villa in Oakville at 10:00 a.m.am Interment will be private. O'Neill Funeral Home, 742 Main St. Oakville, CT 06779 has been entrusted to assist the family with the arrangements.
