REMEMBERING AND HONORING THE LIFE OF KEVIN M. RAYEL
"Local Athletic Director and Coach"
WATERBURY- Kevin M. Rayel, age 70 of Waterbury, passed away unexpectedly at home on Wednesday, April 13, 2022.
Kevin was born on August 9, 1951 in Waterbury, the son of the late Michael and Evette Rayel. Kevin was a graduate of Wilby High School, Huron College in SD and earned his Master's Degree from Southern Connecticut State University. Kevin was a well-known Athletic Director who began his career at Sacred Heart High School as a physical education teacher and football coach. He then worked for the town of Clinton at Morgan High school as athletic director for several years. In 1990, while at Sacred Heart High School, Kevin was a part of the coaching staff that guided the team to win the Boy's Class SS football championship. Kevin enjoyed gardening and doing yard work. He also liked to cook, especially barbequed ribs, which he would bring to family events. He had a sweet tooth and even tried his hand at baking cookies and banana breads. Kevin liked to spoil his nieces and nephews with cupcakes and goodies from local bakeries or chocolate shops.
Left to honor his memory and cherish his legacy are his brothers, Michael and his wife, Barbara of Old Lyme, Mark of Watertown, and his sisters; Elaine Marano and her husband Fred of Watertown and Doreen Bousaada and her husband Michael of Middlebury. He also leaves his nieces and nephews with whom he was especially close; David and Tiffany Marano, Michael J. Rayel, Lori and Daniel Cooney, Patrick and Mary Rayel, Michelle and Emily Bousaada and several great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Edward Rayel.
Funeral services for Mr. Rayel will be held on Wednesday, April 20, 2022, at 9:30 a.m. from Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 1987 East Main St. @ Southmayd Rd, Waterbury, CT 06705 to St. Michael's RC Church to celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Watertown. Relatives and friends may visit with the Rayel family on Wednesday morning from 9:30-10:30 a.m at the funeral home.
