THE CASEY FAMILY IS HONORED TO BE ASSISTING AND CARING FOR THE FAMILY OF LAURINE GHENT
ACTIVE IN SEVERAL LOCAL ORGANIZATIONS
WATERBURY - Laurine H. Ghent age 96 of Waterbury, passed away peacefully on Sunday November 10th 2019 at the Cheshire House in Waterbury after an extended illness. She was the widow of Donald Ghent Sr.
Laurine was born March 11th 1923 in Waterbury, CT, the daughter of the late William F. and Anne (Judge) Hickey. She was educated at Sacred Heart School and was a loving and dedicated homemaker for many years. Laurine spent many years helping the Sacred Heart Church nuns with errands and travel needs. After her children where grown, she began working alongside her husband at his building and Realty Company, Donald J. Ghent Realty and Northern Homes. Laurine enjoyed bowling and was a member of the East Mountain Bowling league and was active in many local organizations including the Waterbury Day Nursery, Waterbury East End Senior Center and Saints Peter and Paul Madonna Guild, where she was the former secretary, Sacred Heart High School memorial committees and Laurine also served on the Greater Waterbury Board of Realtors as MLS president. Laurine exemplified a life well lived. She always saw the good in everyone and approached life with such a positive attitude and always a smile. She will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know and love her.
Left to cherish the memories and honor Laurine's legacy, are her sons; Donald Ghent Jr. and his wife, Elizabeth of Adelphi, MD, Robert Ghent and his wife, Arlene of New Haven, her daughters, Mary Anne Orzolek and her husband, Jon of Kensington, and Laurine Farland and her husband, Scott of Fiskdale, MA. She also leaves her lifelong friend Connie "Constance" (Shea) Copes of Waterbury. Laurine was blessed with 10 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter. She was predeceased by her brothers; William F. Hickey, Dr Robert E. Hickey DDS., John D. Hickey and her beloved sister-in-law Marita Lawlor.
Funeral services for Mrs. Ghent will be held on Friday, November 15, 2019 when a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Leo The Great Church 14 Bentwood Rd Waterbury, CT 06705 at 11:00 a.m.. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with Laurine's family on Friday morning from 9:30 am until leaving for church at 10:30am at Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home 1987 East Main St @ Southmayd Rd Waterbury CT 06705.
