OAKVILLE - Lawrence J. Evon Sr. age 77, passed away on Sunday, June 28, 2105, surrounded by the love and comfort of his family at the Vitas Innovative Care Unit of St. Marys Hospital. He was the loving husband of Patricia M (Berthiaume) Evon.
Lawrence was born January 16, 1938 in Waterbury, the son of the late Alfred N and Mary (Tyyrell) Evon. He was educated in local schools and proudly served his country in the United States Army. Lawrence was an accomplished carpenter, cabinet maker and woodworking architect. He had a true passion for woodworking but his greatest love was his family and the time he spent with them.
Besides his devoted wife of 57 years, Lawrence leaves his daughter, Lori Laferriere and her husband Val of Oakville, a brother, Paul of Oakville and a sister, Mary Sosbe of Wolcott and several nieces and nephews. Lawrence was predeceased by his two sons, Lawrence J. Evon Jr. and Lee J. Evon, and 5 brothers, Alfred Jr, Arnold, Francis, Gerald and Roger Evon. Lawrence will be sadly missed by Buster Brown, Rusty and Little Girl.
Funeral services for Mr. Evon will be held on Friday, July 3, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at St Margarets Church, 289 Willow St Waterbury when a Mass of Christian Burial will be held. Burial with full military honors will follow in Bucks Hill Cemetery, Waterbury. Relative and friends may visit with Lawrence's family on Thursday evening from 5:00 till 7:00 pm at O'Neill Funeral Home 742 Main St. Oakville CT 06779.
