THE CASEY FAMILY IS HONORED TO BE ASSISTING AND CARING FOR THE FAMILY OF LAWRENCE KENAUSIS

Dr. Lawrence Charles Kenausis peacefully departed this world on Monday, May 14th, surrounded by his family at the Regional Hospice in Danbury. Lawrence was a man of many nicknames: Ziggy, Boris, Doc Larry, and "the Old Guy," to list a few favorites. He is survived by Carolyn Kenausis of Middlebury, his loving wife of 55 years, and his four reasonably respectable children, Paige, Jeffrey, Kristin, and Gregory Kenausis. In addition, he leaves behind ten pretty cool grandchildren. He spent his career as a chemist, metallurgist and environmental engineer at Anaconda American Brass and Environmental Waste Removal, both in Waterbury. He enjoyed many years in the Middlebury Volunteer Fire Department, serving as treasurer and getting to wear a fancy uniform in the Memorial Day Parade. A pioneer in Middlebury recycling, Larry was passionate about the environment, biking to work well before it was fashionable. He served as president of Middlebury Little League, introducing coach-pitched games, giving families back their weekends. Larry, a known style icon, single-handedly brought back the pith helmet and inspired Mike Brady's perm. A man of many talents, he enjoyed being known as the "Master of Adhesion," often restoring broken household items of questionable value. He enjoyed traveling and visiting his far-flung offspring in Switzerland and Costa Rica. His book smarts were courtesy of the College of the Holy Cross, Boston College, and University of Pennsylvania. He was often a fixture at the Middlebury library and Saturday Mass at Saint John of the Cross Church. His great passions were golf, the Red Sox, puzzles, ice-skating, foraging for berries, and spending time with family at their cottage on Lake Quassapaug. He will be missed. Keep the ball in play, Boris.

A mass of Catholic Remembrance will be held at Saint John of the Cross Church in Middlebury on Saturday, May 19th at 12 noon. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The First Tee or the Middlebury Public Library.
