Loving Husband, Father, and Grandfather
WATERBURY- It is with broken hearts that the family of Lee Alan Walter, age 73, of Waterbury,share the news of his peaceful passing on Monday, March 10th , 2025 at the Vitas Inpatient Unit of St Mary’s Hospital surrounded by the love and comfort of his family. He was the beloved husband of Joan(Clark) Walter.
Lee was born in Washington, D.C, on March 14th , 1951, the son of late Howard Ross and Lois Mae (Olewine) Walter. He was a graduate of Altoona Area High School in 1969 and was later employed by WACO Scaffolding of Cheshire, CT for most of his working career, retiring in 2019. A devoted member of the B.P.O. Elks Lodge #246, Waterbury, CT, Lee spent many years helping to coach and preside over many youth teams and leagues that his children participated in, including the Waterbury Elks Pee Wee Reese baseball team, AABC baseball in Waterbury (which hosted many state and regional baseball tournaments during his time as president), Waterbury Knights Pop Warner football and the Elks Junior Bowling League. Lee loved nothing more than spending time with his loving family and friends. Lee was exceptional in almost every way, but he excelled the most at being a devoted husband, father, grandfather and role model for the young athletes he loved to be with. He will be sadly missed by all who were blessed to know and love him.
Left to cherish his memory and honor his legacy, besides his loving wife of 51 years, are his children;Lee Walter Jr., and his wife Robin, and Julie McMahon. Lee and Joan are blessed with 6 beloved grandchildren; Tyler, Bryce, Katie, Jaime, Robert and Cara. He also leaves his brother Howard and his wife Marlene, and his sister Nancy, along with his brother-in-law Ken and his two sisters-in-law, Kathy and Barb. Lee was predeceased by his parents, his sisters, Janet and Sharon and by his mother- and father-in-law, Beverly and Everett. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
The family would like to share special thanks to the Doctors, Nurses and staff at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford, Hospital for Special Care in New Britain, St. Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury, Hartford Healthcare at home, and Vitas Hospice Care for the great support and care over the past several months.
